[x-], Daniil Iwanowitsch, eigentlich D. I. Juwatschọw, russischer Lyriker, Dramatiker und Prosaist, * Sankt Petersburg 12. 1. 1906, ✝ (in Haft) 2. 2. 1942; neben A. I. Wwedenskij einer der Hauptvertreter der 1927 gegründeten literarischen Gruppe »Oberiu« (russisch »Objedinenie Realnnowo Iskusstwa«, Vereinigung für reale Kunst), einer avantgardistischen Gruppe von Dichtern und Künstlern, die bis 1930 bestand; 1931/32 in Haft. 1941 erneut verhaftet, verhungerte er im Gefängnis; 1956 rehabilitiert. - Charms experimentierte mit Lyrik und verfasste kleine Dramen, reich an Alogismen und Überraschungsmomenten in Handlungs- und Personenführung. »Elizabeta Bam« (deutsch in: D. Charms: Fälle, 1970) nähert sich dem absurden Theater. Mitte der 1930er-Jahre zog sich Charms mehr und mehr auf einfachere Stilistik und realistischere Thematik zurück (auch Kinderbücher). Seine Miniaturen »Slučai« (deutsch »Fälle«) sind minutiöse Beobachtungen des Alltags, in denen sich das Groteske offenbart.
